Devil's Thumb via Lake Agnes Trail
Technical Difficulty: Moderate/Advanced
Endurance Difficulty: Moderate/Advanced

Elevation Gain: 883m
Located near Lake Louise, Alberta, the Devil's Thumb hike is a must for any avid hiker seeking incredible views of Lake Louise and the surrounding mountain ranges. The views on this hike are simply stunning, with the summit showcasing both Lake Agnes and Lake Louise side by side.
This is certainly a tough hike however, and some scrambling is necessary to reach the end. The hike can be considered moderate until the final few kilometres or so where the incline increases dramatically. Use your hands to scramble as necessary and take your time. If it is raining then this hike could be very difficult and even dangerous toward the end. Use caution.
If taking your camera equipment, pack lightly. I used both a 55mm 1.8 Sony Zeiss lens and the stock 28-70mm Sony lens to capture the views. If taking one lens, I would suggest the 28-70mm to capture more of the landscape, especially the two lakes in view.
Hiking poles: recomended but not necessary. The steep sections will likely have you scrambling anyway, and poles could be a nuisance in this instance. On the way down however they can provide stability, especially as there is some loose rock and slippery dirt/mud-covered sections.
